Ledbury & District swimming club are celebrating winning the Wyvern League for the 7th successive year. The triumph was completed in the league final at Newport Swimming Pool with a resounding 33 point win over their nearest rivals, Torfaen County swim squad.

The Ledbury swimmers were in scintillating form winning 29 races and finishing in the top three places in 46 of the 53 events. Everything came together perfectly having had close rounds previously, this time every swimmer pulled out all the stops.
The first victory of the day came with the girls 14-15 years team freestyle relay of Dani Fitzgerald, Gaby Parcell, Hannah Casewell and Leah Heath winning by 0.3 seconds in a very closely fought race. A more comfortable win came soon after for Alex Middleton in the 13 years 50m butterfly, a trend continued by the 13 year old boys team of Morgan Crosshoare (backstroke), Peter Crocombe (breaststroke) and Rob Thomas (freestyle) who won their individual and relay races with ease.
Not to be out-done the boys 10 year olds team matched this feat with great swims from Lucas Dewe, Sam Hall, Eric Harris, Elliot Heath, Harry Bloxsome and Callum Berry.
Overall the Ledbury team recorded 27 personal bests and 37 of the times were best performances in the league this year, providing more evidence of the great racing and efforts put in.
The final race of the gala was the 10 x 25m freestyle relay known as the cannon in which in previous rounds the Ledbury swimmers had to settle for 2nd place but not this time as they swam 7 seconds faster to win by half a length.
An understandably delighted head coach, Chris Treanor, had this to say: "A superb win for a superb team. From start to finish they got everything right and fought for every single point which is very pleasing".
